(45) Duck Larb @ Lers Ros Thai

Holy Larb. There was a time in my life before eating larb & a time after eating larb, life with larb is much better. Let's have a mini lesson on larb, shall we? According to the internets, Larb is the national dish of Laos, and upon further investigative research, "the larb from northern Thailand is very different from the internationally more well-known Laotian and Isan style larb. The northern Thailand larb does not contain lime or fish sauce, but instead an elaborate mix of dried spices such as flavoring and seasoning which includes ingredients such as cumin, cloves, long pepper, star anise, prickly ash seeds and cinnamon amongst others, in addition to ground chillies, and, in the case of larb made with pork or chicken, also the blood of the animal used." Interesting.  However, the larb @ Lers Ros Thai is the Lao/Isan variety, which is "most often made with chicken, beef, duck, fish, pork, or mushrooms, flavored with fish sauce, lime juice, pla ra, roasted ground rice and fresh herbs. The meat can be either raw or cooked; it is minced and mixed with chili, mint, and optionally, assorted vegetables." There you go folks, Larb 101. You're welcome. Alright, so Lers Ros Thai's take on Larb is the following > chunks of roasted duck (mmmmmmmmmm x infinity) mixed with rice powder, chili powder, mint sprigs, raw red onions, a lime based salad dressing, and wedges of lettuce for wrapping. It's pretty fucking delicious and I highly highly recommend it. This is what the dish looks like when you get it delivered FOR FREE, yes, they do free delivery everyday 4 p.m. - 11/midnight (depending on location).
