(18) $24 Prix Fixe @ Cotogna

Oh, Cotogna. You are my favorite. Possibly my favorite restaurant in the whole City. Oh boy, that's a lot of commitment,...100% in the Top 3. There, that's better. Can't beat a perfectly executed three course meal with a $24 price tag. Cotogna, you are what dreams are made of!

Appetizer = "Vignarola" - poached egg, artichokes, English peas, spring onions and pecorino @ Cotogna. Photo credit: Kendra Aronson.
Entree = pappardelle with spring lamb ragu @ Cotogna. Photo credit: Kendra Aronson.
Dessert = affogato - warm espresso poured over vanilla ice cream @ Cotogna. Photo credit: Kendra Aronson.

The soup taste like springtime - tender English peas, buttery artichokes, oozy farm fresh poached eggs, sharp pecorino, and tangy onions. All the elements were there, each shining on their own and also working as a team. The pappardelle was out of this worrrrrld - the lamb ragu was plentiful and the cheese added an extra rich creaminess to pull it all together. Last, but not least, I had my first experience of an affogato. I am not convinced that there is a time before one has not had an affogato, and when one has had an affogato. Cold creamy scoops of vanilla swimming floating in warm espresso, uhhh yesssss. Affogatos are life-changing. Cotogna is amazing - the space, their philosophy, their food. Highly recommended!

  2. I do now! But the yellow has to be real runny or raw, I don't like it if it's cooked through, ha. Let's go together next time you are in the City!
